AFRICA TRAVEL GUIDE
Wildlife. Culture.
Extraordinary Landscapes.
Africa can mean a classic safari, Cape Town and wine country, desert landscapes, Indian Ocean beaches or a custom journey combining several experiences.
WHY THIS DESTINATION
Start With the Experience, Not the Continent.
Africa is vast, and the right season varies by country and ecosystem. Safari planning should begin with what you most want to see, how active you want the trip to be and how much moving around feels comfortable.

WHEN TO VISIT
Choose the Season That Fits Your Trip
Weather, crowds and the experiences available can change throughout the year. These broad windows are a starting point; the exact destination matters.
MATCH THE RESERVEKenya & Tanzania
Kenya’s July–October and December–March periods are popular for drier conditions. Tanzania and individual reserves need their own timing check. Choose the park and wildlife priorities before fixing dates.
Planning tip:Migration sightings and river crossings are never guaranteed.
APR–SEP / REGIONALSouthern Africa
Kruger’s drier April–September period can make wildlife easier to spot. Cape Town has a different pattern, with winter rainfall and warmer summer beach weather. Botswana and Zimbabwe need separate local planning.
Planning tip:A safari and Cape Town combination involves seasonal tradeoffs.
COOLER MONTHSEgypt & the Nile
October–April is a useful starting window for temple visits and Nile sightseeing with less intense heat. Summer trips call for careful daily pacing, especially around Luxor and Aswan.
Planning tip:Compare time at archaeological sites, not just cruise nights.
SPRING & AUTUMNMorocco
Spring and autumn are particularly appealing for Sahara journeys. Coastal, mountain and inland city conditions differ, so the best dates depend on your route.
Planning tip:Allow enough time for the distance between cities and the desert.
WHICH AFRICA JOURNEY FITS YOU?
Wildlife, Cities or Ancient Wonders?
Choose the experience first. These four journeys call for different routes and pacing.

East Africa Safari
Kenya and Tanzania put wildlife at the center of the journey. Compare reserve locations, time on game drives and how often you move between camps.
BEST FOR: WILDLIFE + OPEN LANDSCAPES
Southern Africa
Combine a South Africa safari with Cape Town and wine country, or explore lodge-based journeys in Botswana and Zimbabwe. Each combination needs realistic transfer time.
BEST FOR: SAFARI + CITIES + LODGES
Egypt & the Nile
Pair Cairo and Giza with a Nile cruise or guided land itinerary around Luxor and Aswan. Check which visits, internal transfers and guiding are included.
BEST FOR: ANCIENT HISTORY + RIVER TRAVEL
Morocco
Explore medinas, architecture and local food on a guided or custom trip. Add the Atlas Mountains, coast or Sahara when your route allows enough time.
BEST FOR: CULTURE + CITIES + DESERTPLAN THE RIGHT EXPERIENCE
What Kind of Africa Vacation Should You Choose?
A Safari-Focused Journey
Start with the wildlife and setting you most want to experience. Compare camp locations, shared versus private game drives, vehicle time, lodge comfort and the number of moves.
Explore Guided & Custom JourneysA Cultural Tour or Nile Cruise
Egypt and Morocco reward time with knowledgeable local guides. For Egypt, compare a land tour with a Nile cruise combination; a river itinerary covers a different experience from an ocean cruise.
Explore Cruise TravelA Tailored Combination
Consider safari plus Cape Town, or a beach extension after your main journey. Connections, seasonal conditions and your preferred pace determine whether an extension fits comfortably.

TRAVEL TIPS
A Little Planning Goes a Long Way
01Plan Around Wildlife
Migration and animal behavior are seasonal and region-specific.
02Choose Lodge Style
Compare permanent lodges and tented camps, included meals and drives, and accessibility. A tented camp can still offer substantial comfort.
03Allow Travel Time
Ask about driving time versus flights, connection buffers and any small-aircraft luggage limits before choosing your route.
04Check Health & Entry Needs
Requirements vary by country; review official guidance well before travel.
